Maple's Litter 12/18/25

So... Funny story.

We got Maple formerly known as (Hermione) and her boyfriend Pepper (Ron) from a local farm here during a trade for some goats back in August. Well she was in a pen with Pepper and another boar when we went and picked her up and she had just lost an entire litter to a predator. So we decided to separate her from Pepper as soon as we got her home. Let her have a break and we would breed her in December for spring babies. Well on 12/15 I noticed she was bagging up! I had no idea she was pregnant and we had owned her for 109 days at this point (Pig gestation period is 112-116 days) so we knew for a fact she didn't get bred here. Fast forward a few days and we have little piglets on the ground! But.... Wait? They don't look like Kunekunes, where are all the spots? Turns out, that the other boar she was housed with that was supposed to be "cut" was in fact very much intact. Of course right haha, always expect the unexpected when running a farm.

That boar aka "Baby Daddy" was a chinese pig breed known as a Meishan. They are not cute.... but somehow-when mixed with a Kunekune you get the cutest little wrinkly skin and floppy ears. These babies are lovingly known as "Kuneshans".

We were blessed with 4 little girls and 3 boys. All our doing great and will be available in February.
